William Arias-Abril, of Peekskill, has been sentenced to six years in state prison in Westchester County Court after pleading guilty to two counts of third-degree rape. He was sentenced to three years in state prison on each count, which will run consecutively.

Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr., said that on Jan. 12, Arias-Abril’s 16-year-old victim reported to the Peekskill Police Department that she had been raped.

Investigators said the conduct began in May last year, and continued until January this year. When Arias-Abril became aware that his victim went to the police, he fled to Connecticut. On Jan. 16, the Peekskill Police Department and members of the FBI NY State Streets Taskforce and the Danbury Police Department arrested Arias-Abril in Danbury.

Arias-Abril was subsequently taken into custody and extradited to New York on Jan. 29.
